The Emerald Isle

Kate and I are off for a two-week visit to the Republic of Ireland. Don’t worry — there are great articles and excellent interviews all lined up while we’re away.

We’ll have Internet access while in Ireland and I’ll be checking the blogs for comments and e-mail. But, our primary duty while in Ireland is to see the great country, enjoy our time together and see if we can’t find a pub or two that wouldn’t mind having a couple of Yanks share a pint.

We arrived safely in Ireland this Sunday morning. American Airlines cancelled our flight from Seattle to Chicago — but rebooked us on their Partner airline, Alaska. Plus, they called us at 5 AM to let us know. Good thing we were already up…

Hi Scot, hope you have a great time – I was born and reared in the west of Ireland yet every time I go back, I feel like I discover something new! I have no doubt you’ll find a decent pub or two to fit the criterion you mention 🙂

  • Scot Herrick says:

And we have! Once past the jet lag, things have been good.

We visited the Guinness Brewery today and had the great view of Dublin. Plus, the St. Stephen Green park is really spectacular.

Tuesday, we’re heading down south a bit on the DART and will have a good time exploring there.

It has been a great trip so far!

  • Scot Herrick says:

After 4.5 days in Dublin (and taking the DART both north and south of Dublin while there), we headed off to a bed and breakfast in Navan. Saturday we are seeing New Grange; something I’ve been looking forward to for quite a while.

Sunday we head back to Dublin to pick up our guided tour for all of next week. Lots to see, but much more structured.
