Companies are Profiling YOU

email

Companies Profiling YOUOne of the most important facts for you to know is that “what you write on the Internet stays on the Internet.” This is NOT Las Vegas. With search engines and endless storage, what you post on the Internet is available to anyone willing to look.

And now, some companies are being created to search the Internet for information about you and distill that into a personal profile about you for sale to companies interested in you. Right, wrong, or indifferent, you just had your personal profile placed on the front page of your newspaper to the very people you are trying to represent through your Personal Brand.

Business Week notes in “It isn’t just YourSpace anymore” that some:

30 startups are building services that specialize in tracking people and their reputations….As they fan out, these companies are raising questions about what privacy means not that every experience or memory is fodder for sharing online.

One of the companies has indexed 100 million people.

What is uploaded to the Internet to social sites, web pages, and blogs is tracked, categorized, and synthesized to provide information from you and your closest friends — and enemies — about YOU, whether you want them to or not.

We live our life on the front page of the newspaper. How’s your copy?
