Two Days of Nothing

Two Days of NothingAs the summer winds down here in the Northern Hemisphere, I have the sense of endings before new beginnings.

This has been a whirlwind year with lots of (normal) changes in my life. But I think the sheer pace of change finally caught up with me at the end of last week. And starting Friday after work, the world became a place where I didn’t want to participate.

Eleven hours of sleep later brought me into a Saturday where I did nothing except cheer too loudly for my Green Bay Packers stomping the Seattle Seahawks in a pre-season game at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Pre-season or not, it was great to finally (be able to) cheer the (old) home team on.

And Sunday was, after another nine hours of sleep, a total bust in terms of getting anything done. When watching updates on Hurricane Dean on the Weather Channel becomes the highlight of the day, you know you’ve shut down pretty well.

So there are no great insights into being a Cubicle Warrior today. No tips on topping your performance at work. No mumbling about management’s mismanagement.

Just a day of rest. Sometimes, we all need just that.

Hallelujah! I go on “do nothing” binges as well. Absolutely needed for me sanity :)

There is something magical about “holding class outside” isn’t there? That’s how I felt.
